Shane Black may come in as the replacement of Jon Favreau for "Iron Man 3". The Hollywood Reporter says the filmmaker who made his name for writing "Lethal Weapon" is in contention to direct the third "Iron Man" film.
Black has reportedly had meeting with Marvel executives about his take on the upcoming project. While he is now only considered for the directing job, he may also write a draft if he lands the gig. Insiders, however, note that "Black's involvement is far from a sure thing", and the studio are looking at other directors as well.

If Black nabs the job, he will reunite with Downey Jr. who is set to reprise his role as Tony Stark aka Iron Man in "Iron Man 3". The movie is slated for May 3, 2013 release in the U.S. with Walt Disney Studios handling the distribution and marketing.
