Vin Diesel, who does it all for the fans, has released some concept art from Riddick 3. Recently, Diesel pretended to hem and haw over whether or not he should take a pay cut for a film he’s supposedly been passionate it about for years, but it looks like the project is moving forward with shooting likely to begin this September. As a birthday present for Diesel, Riddick director David Twohy sent along some concept art for the film and Diesel has now shared the concept art on his Facebook page. The way the image is drawn, it looks like Riddick destroyed a planet and half a mountain with a knife. He apparently also has a new pet.
It’s worth noting that Riddick 3 has seemed on the cusp of shooting numerous times. In May of 2010, we reported that shooting would begin once Diesel wrapped filming on Fast Five. Guess what didn’t happen. Then in May of this year, Diesel said as early as this summer, but that’s not likely to happen. Now September is looking like the start date, but we’ll see. Here’s the plot synopsis we posed in May 2010, but the plot could have easily changed over the past 14 months:
Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.
