'Deathly Hallows: Part I' Is Top Earner of 'Harry Potter' Series Internationally

 "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I" is a big moneymaker for Warner Bros. Pictures. The studio announced on Wednesday, March 9 that the movie has become the highest grossing installment in the "Harry Potter" franchise in international markets.

Since being released in late last year, "Deathly Hallows: Part I" has earned a staggering $657.24 million and counting. It surpasses the $657 million grossed from international markets by the previous record-holder, 2001 "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" which is the first movie installment of the franchise.

Combined with the ticket sales from domestic theaters, "Deathly Hallows: Part I" has earned $951.8 million worldwide. "These numbers speak to the phenomenal and enduring strength of this property, which has captivated audiences across all borders, regardless of age or culture," Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, President of International Distribution for WB, said in a statement. "We're looking forward to releasing 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II' this summer, which will be a fitting way to bring to a close the movie event of a generation."

Jeff Robinov, President of WB Group, also commented on the achievement, "It's tremendously gratifying to reach this benchmark as we enter the final stretch of this remarkable journey. We share this achievement with Jo Rowling, whose books are the foundation of this rich and vibrant world, as well as the talented people who brought her vision to life on the screen."

The last installment of the young wizard movie series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II", is set to be released Stateside and premiered in London, U.K. on July 7.
