'Thor' Makes Thundering Debut at Box Office

"Thor" shows off his strength at North American box office. The superhero movie lands at the first place by grossing approximately $66 million. Costing about $150 million to produce, the film received a "B plus" rating from CinemaScore. 

Meanwhile, Justin Lin-directed "Fast Five" makes a stop at number two. The last week champion now drops to the runner-up position with an estimated $32.5 million. The movie which stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson grosses a total of $139.8 million in its second week.

Drama comedy "Jumping the Broom" opens with a soft landing at the third place. Drawing 70% female audience, the PG-13-rated movie grosses $13.7 million and gets an "A" rating from CinemaScore.

"Something Borrowed" secures the fourth spot with an estimated $13.2 million on its opening weekend. In the meantime, "Rio" has to drop another slot to number five after obtaining approximately $8.2 million, or decreasing about 44.5% from last week's cum.
