A source told Hollywood Life, "Demi's long, beautiful dress got caught in one of her violinist's chairs when she was walking on stage to sing 'Skyscraper'." The source added, "She noticed some of us giving her the thumbs up and returned the thumbs up and smiled."
Talking about the second incident, the source dished on, "Demi fell again as she was walking off stage. She tripped on her dress and fell backward! She quickly got back up. Most people didn't see, but some of us started clapping when she got back up. We gave her big hearts with our hands and she did the same!"
Recognizing young people who send positive messages of empowerment or raise awareness around social change, Do Something Awards was hosted by "Glee" star Jane Lynch this year. Beside featuring Lovato's performance, it also saw Foster the People, OneRepublic and B.o.B singing for the audience.
The show was taped on Sunday evening, August 14 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California. That night, Demi got winged-sneaker trophy for Charity Song, thanks to her duet with Joe Jonas in "Make a Wave". David Beckham grabbed Do Something Athlete, while Olivia Wilde and Justin Bieber won Movie Star and Music Artist respectively.
In an interview with media, one of the attendees Ryan Tedder teased about his new project. The OneRepublic frontman revealed that it's a work he did for Lovato. He said it more upbeat than the emotional ballad "Skyscraper". He stated, "This is basically flipping it 180, saying, 'Oh, by the way, I'm still also just young and want to have fun'."
"There's even like a little rap feature on it," he continued. "I'm going to keep that [person] a secret. But she's got a couple features on this album, one in particular that is going to shock everybody. I was like, 'How did you get this person? They're impossible to get and you got them!' " Timbaland and Missy Elliott are two of rappers who were spotted hitting studio with Lovato earlier this year.
In the same occasion, Tedder then praised the former "Sonny with a Chance" star, saying "Demi blew me out of the water vocally! I had no idea how good her voice is. She's one of the best singers I've ever worked with. Literally, that good...I mean, she's a Kelly Clarkson-level vocalist. And Kelly has a set of pipes."
Lovato indeed sounded good when performing at Do Something Awards. Before the show is televised later this week, fans can take a peek at the teen singer's solid performance in the following footage.
