Hot on heels of her involvement in TV movie "Liz & Dick", Lindsay Lohan
snatches a new job in a big screen project. The 25-year-old actress has
been tapped to star in an indie sexual thriller called "The Canyons",
which script is written by "American Psycho" scribe Bret Easton Ellis.
Announcing Lindsay's casting news was none other than Bret himself. Taking to his Twitter, he shared, "James Deen and Lindsay Lohan will star in THE CANYONS," before adding, "And I am beyond thrilled that James Deen and Lindsay Lohan will be playing the parts of Christian and Tara in THE CANYONS by BEE."
Bret, who recently admitted he's strongly interested in adapting "Fifty Shades of Grey", went on revealing when "The Canyons" will kick off its production. He tweeted, "Shooting THE CANYONS starring James Deen and Lindsay Lohan: July 9-31 in L.A. Could not have dreamed of a better cast. Lindsay nailed it..."
Later on, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the new project, which has just closed its funding via Kickstarter, will be directed by Paul Schrader. The story itself revolves around "sex and crime among a group of twentysomethings in Los Angeles." Adult film star James Deen will play a "manipulative trust-fund kid with dreams of making a movie," while Lindsay will star as his girlfriend who is "addicted to a materialist lifestyle."
Though Lindsay has already been attached to the project, it was reported that she hasn't exactly closed her deal. An insider told E! News, "Lindsay got the role, she has been cast, and now they're just working out the details with the lawyers and writers to finalize the deal. She has not signed yet."
The source added, "The appeal of this role for Lindsay is getting to work with Paul Schrader. He's an amazing filmmaker and it's an amazing role for her. She couldn't be happier. Although if she's had a problem with James Deen, she wouldn't have pursued the role."
