Walt Disney Pictures have shut down the production of Johnny Depp-starring adventure film "The Lone Ranger" due to budgetary issue. It was said that director Gore Verbinski and the production team have tried to reduce the budget from $250 million to $232 million, but it is still far from the $200 million the studio wanted the project to spend.
Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Bob Iger said in a statement on Tuesday, August 9 that the Burbank studio are very concerned to film budgets. "It's our intention to take a very careful look at what films cost," he said.
Iger went on explaining, "And if we can't get them to a level that we're comfortable with, we think that we're better off actually reducing the size of our slate than making films that are bigger and increasingly more risky."
Beside the budgetary problem that made Verbinski clash with the executives of Disney, it was reported that the studio also considered although the project involves a big star like Depp, the genre which highlights a Western theme is not suitable for the studio. "The fact that it's a Western is a definite concern," said a source to The HollywoodReporter.
"The Lone Ranger" was dubbed as a potential big film coming out at the end of 2012. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the project has locked Depp to play Tonto and Armie Hammer as the titular character.
This is actually not the first time Verbinski gets involved in a disagreement with Disney. He previously clashed the executives of the studio over the cost for "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End". The problem led him to walk out from the franchise and not direct "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides".
One lucky guido got a personal treat from Britney Spears. "Jersey Shore" star DJ Pauly D who opens for a number of the pop star's concerts got up close to her when she used him as part of her lap dance act.
Pauly D was first handcuffed to the pole on top of a convertible. The "Femme Fatale" singer then seductively teased him with a straight look before putting a pink feathered boa on his shoulder. Britney continued by sitting on top of his shoulders from the back while clutching on the pole.
Taking Pauly D away from the stage on the car, Britney playfully told her audience, "He's never coming back!" Pauly D tweeted on Thursday, August 11 night, "Wow, just got a lap dance on stage from Britney Spears" and linked a photo of the act.
There's a possibility that the act was recorded for Pauly D's reality show which is a spin-off to "Jersey Shore".
Though she is famous for her bizarre outfits, Lady GaGa dressed down and went normal for one night. The "Bad Romance" hitmaker traded fishnets, latex and colored wigs with a simple black dress and a pair of chic pumps when she stepped out in Los Angeles on early Friday morning, August 12.
Turning head with her sophisticated look, the 25-year-old wore a one-shoulder black dress with yellow and purple tulip design on one side by Versace. She completed her look with a black clutch bag, big sunglasses and sky-high Christian Louboutin pumps. The "You and I" singer let her long blonde hair swept elegantly down her right.
GaGa was at the time spotted leaving a recording studio at 2 A.M. on Melrose Avenue. Us Magazine, in the meantime, reported that she was exiting La Maison De Fashion boutique. Earlier in the evening, the Grammy winner enjoyed dinner at Crustacean Restaurant in Beverly Hills. She reportedly munched on garlic noodles, surf and turf rolls, and crab dishes.
Miranda Cosgrove, the 18-year-old star of Nickelodeon's iCarly TV show, broke her ankle when her tour bus crashed on Thursday, her spokeswoman said.
Cosgrove has postponed her "Dancing Crazy" North American tour until further notice because of the crash, the spokeswoman said in a statement.
"Miranda Cosgrove's tour bus was involved in an accident early this morning in Illinois on I-70, just outside of Vandalia. There were five passengers on the bus, and Miranda suffered a broken ankle," she said.
"We are told everyone will be fine. Because of this, her tour is postponed until further notice," the statement said.
The singer and actress kicked off the second leg of her debut solo tour in Ohio in July and it was due to end in Arizona in October before moving on to Brazil in November.
iCarly, in which Cosgrove plays a teenager who creates her own web show, first aired in 2007 and has since won five Kids' Choice Awards.
Singer, dancer, snappy dresser, and now it turns out Justin Bieber is a matchmaker, too? The Baby hitmaker is using Twitter to try and convince Kendall Jenner to go out with his 16-year-old friend and music producer Julian Swirsky.
On Tuesday morning he wrote: "Hey @Kendalljenner you should let my boy @iamjulkeyz take you on a date ;)"
Kendall, who is Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian's half-sister, is down with it as long as Justin and girlfriend Selena Gomez come along. Kendall wrote back: "Only if you & @selenagomez join! :)"
Kendall is an up-and-coming model who recently signed on to a swimsuit campaign with Australian designer Leah Madden. If this thing happens, we're guessing Justin is about to swamped with friends asking for a few favors with the ladies.
On Tuesday afternoon Julian, who has more than 100,000 Twitter followers of his own, chimed in: "@kendalljenner are you choosing the restaurant?"
Congratulations, Jennifer Lopez. You're going back to Hollywood!
American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe confirmed the news Wednesday morning while appearing on Idol host Ryan Seacrest's syndicated radio show. Seacrest asked the producer: "Do you want to do the Jennifer announcement or are we still waiting?"
To which Lythgoe replied: "I believe we're still waiting for the official announcement, but I am delighted to say that all three judges, along with the brilliant host of American Idol, is back for the next season."
While judges Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson were already expected to come back for another season of Idol, J.Lo's status was up in the air as she renegotiated her contract. Lythgoe also revealed that the three of them will soon be hitting the road for the show's grueling auditions, which will be coming soon to Denver, Houston, St. Louis, Portland, San Diego, Pittsburgh and Charleston.
Robert Pattinson feels terrible about the damage he did during his steamy honeymoon scenes with Kristen Stewartwhile filming the upcoming fourth Twilight movie. While Kristen came through unscathed, he can't say as much for the bed linens.
"I wanted to have it as a line so much: 'I bit through all the pillows. Every. Single. One.' And then he'd start crying," Rob jokingly told Entertainment Weekly of filming his first onscreen sex scene with Kristen. "By the way, that's what he should be ashamed of in the morning. All those beautiful pillows! Egyptian cotton! I ruined this bed!"
Based on Rob's comments, it sounds like the Breaking Dawn movie is staying faithful to the book. Fans have publicly worried that the movie's PG-13 rating will mean a watered-down version of the sex scene where Edward demolishes their bed. Well good news, fans. It sounds like the feathers and splinters will both be flying!
For Kristen's part, she told the magazine the movie's much-talked-about wedding scene was a strange experience for her.
"It's a trip to watch the wedding scenes, especially," she said. "It was so volatile and emotional -- I was being such a crazy person."
We can't wait to see how that translates onscreen. Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 hits theaters November 18th.
Britney Spears is honoring the legends in a new commercial for 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. A white poster bearing words "Billy Jean", "Like a Virgin" and "Hit Me 1 More X" is seen hanging on the wall of a club where she's DJing and partying all night long. "[They're] the people I've grown up listening to and totally inspire [me]," she says.
In addition to paying homage to Michael Jackson and Madonna, she also salutes Janet Jackson. Her song "Rhythm Nation" is one of the backsounds in the promo ad dubbed "A Tribute to Britney Spears". Those classics are mashed up with Britney's popular singles like "Slave 4 U" and "I Wanna Go".
The video opens with her standing in front of the mirror and writing down number "7" on it. "I'm representing how many albums I've done," she gushes. "I'm walking down a hallway and I'm seeing memorabilia of all my performances that I've done in the past. All my dancers are dressed up in my old outfits, which it's really cool."
This year, Britney receives two nods at the VMAs, thanks to her "Till the World Ends" music video. She is vying for Best Pop Video against Adele, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and Pitbull, and is competing for Best Choreography against Beyonce Knowles, Lady GaGa, LMFAO and Bruno.
2011 MTV VMAs will be held in a live telecast at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on August 28. Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Adele and Bruno have been confirmed as performers. Jonah Hill, Rick Ross, Selena Gomez, Seth Rogen, Kim Kardashian and Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All are tapped as presenters.
Kelly Clarkson has a new single coming out by the end of this month. Rumor has it, the former winner of "American Idol" has sent a song called "Mr. Know It All" to radios and set it to make its airwave debut on August 30.
According to a review from 104.3MYfm, the song is amazing. "Kelly still has the huge powerful voice, but does some new things with it and incorporates some great drum beats and tempo," it was elaborated further on the radio's official website.
Addressing whether or not the song is among the 50 materials which leaked from Kelly's folder earlier this year, they stated, "I heard the leak a few months ago, and let me tell you this is not it!" They then continued giving further hint on what to expect from the song by writing, "The background has a 'Just the Way You Are' sound and I instantly compared the vocal to Pink, with how raspy Kelly tries to go with it."
Beside focusing on her own album, Kelly has also worked on a side project with her backup singers Jill and Kate. They form a trio under the moniker of Already Famous and have already hit studio together. They said, "We've been writing & singing together 4 over 4 years so we thought why not record it. We love singing harmony!"
Robert Pattinson appears on the cover of Entertainment Weekly's newest issue sans his shirt. In the issue which hits newsstands on Friday, August 12, Pattinson poses as his "Twilight" character, Edward Cullen, along with on-screen lover Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan.
Inside the edition, Stewart talked about shooting the wedding scene for "Breaking Dawn". She said, "It's a trip to watch the wedding scenes especially. It was so volatile and emotional - I was being such a crazy person."
Meanwhile, Pattinson confessed that he ruined the bed during the sex scene. "I wanted to have it as a line so much. [In an American/Edward accent] I bit through all the pillows. Every. Single. One. And then he'd start crying. By the way, that's what he should be ashamed of in the morning. All those beautiful pillows! Egyptian cotton! [Laughs] I ruined this bed!" he said.
Entertainment Weekly has got its hand on the first official picture from "J. Edgar". It features lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio as J. Edgar Hoover in a scene where he delivers a speech. Looking fierce, he suits up in a grey outfit with many other men in the background.
DiCaprio dons prosthetic makeup to portray the first director of FBI during his elderly years. "To me, it's really a story of how absolute power corrupts absolutely," the "Inception" actor gushes about the film, before adding, "He was always an outsider."
Directed by Clint Eastwood, the biopic will trace "Hoover's life from his childhood in Washington, D.C., through his ascent to power in the 1920s, his 50-year reign over the FBI, and his death in 1972." It is set for a limited release on November 9 in the U.S., before expanding to theaters across the nation on November 11.
Naomi Watts, Armie Hammer, Ed Westwick and Judi Dench additionally support the drama film.
Taylor Swift has premiered a music video filmed to support her latest single "Sparks Fly". The country music cutie gives her devotees a "Speak Now" tour experience in the clip by compiling footage from her ongoing traveling show across the United States.
The thrills are shared in a number of elaborate sets involving floating balconies, glittery costume changes and acrobatic routines by aerialists. Still, all eyes are on Swift who is strutting her stuff, wiping her blonde hair and twirling around the stage in high spirit.
Cameras, cell phones and glow sticks flash among the screaming crowd, but it was the firework set off around the venue that lights up the night. The performances previewed in the clip include "Speak Now", "Back to December" and "Mean".
Taylor Swift will stay on the road until November 22. After performing on August 10 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, she will resume the tour on August 13 at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Beside singing her own songs, she also covers other artists' popular tracks like Eminem's "Lose Yourself". Most recently, she did a rendition of Fall Out Boy's "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" in one of the tour stops.
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are not calling off their divorce. The estranged couple sparked report of a possible reconciliation after TMZ brought out a photo of the two sharing the backseat of a red Mustang convertible in Long Island. Representative for both stars, however, was quick to deny.
Reacting to the photo taken near Sagg Main Beach in Southampton, New York on Wednesday, August 10, Marc's rep told the gossip site the Latin crooner was on the East Coast visiting his children. J.Lo's rep, in the meantime, came out with a stronger statement, "They are NOT back together - they were just visiting each other and the children."
Another related report suggested that Marc is desperate to win J.Lo back. "His mood shifts from blaming her to begging her to take him back to telling her she is destroying his life," an insider told Us Weekly. It was further noted that Marc was also "being difficult on every little point" of their impending divorce, because he "wants to prolong things so she reconsiders."
Marc and J.Lo revealed their decision to end their seven years of marriage in mid-July. In a joint statement, the parents of twins Emme and Max said, "This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."
Production for Zack Snyder-directed "Man of Steel" has been set in motion. An on-set footage recently hit the web, giving a sneak peek at a tornado scene which was recently filmed at the Sugar Grove area near Plano, Illinois.
Some huge fans were seen being set on the side of the road supposedly to give a tornado effect. According to narration provided by the person who secretly took the video from behind the bushes, Kevin Costner who plays Jonathan Kent is involved in the filming. Instead of running away, he is seen walking in the direction of the storm.
Words are, next on Snyder's schedule after the tornado scene is the filming of some big action scenes in Valley West Community Hospital. A source told ComicBookMovie that they will have windows in the building blacked out, but would stage no real major explosions.
"Nothing will be big there because they can't actually blow up the hospital. So they're just going to be using some controlled and smaller pyro's and then digitally altering it to make it look like a big explosion took place," the insider dished on.
The source furthermore talked about the bank vault which is featured in the background of the first official still. "Oh, it's real. The bank is real. It is being wired with explosives, too and will feature a massive military rumble involving Zod and Faora. The direction of that scene will be done from more of a distance because of explosives, just like the 7-Eleven," it was revealed.
Talking about the Superman, the source said, "[He] learns of certain powers that he has where a glass starts shaking and then breaks. Snyder was very specific and provided a lot of detail about how this was to be done. It will all be controlled with pyrotechnics with certain holes drilled at certain depths and multiple blasts to make the total effect."
Starring Henry Cavill as Clark/Superman and Amy Adams as Lois Lane, the film which is directed by Zack Snyder will hit theaters in 2013. It promises to ramp up the action of its esteemed predecessor "Superman Returns", and to raise the stakes and take the audience to heights of action that no other superhero movie can achieve.
Having already won Grammys, toured around the globe and sold million copies of their albums, Evanescence are now eying to get hired by Summit Entertainment to write a song for "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn Part I". In fact, they already have one perfect song for the movie.
"I've been screaming for [new song] 'My Heart Is Broken' to land in that, because I think it would fit the story so well. I got sucked into the 'Twilight' vortex by the girls at home, so by default, I've got to watch it," drummer Will Hunt said during an interview with MTV recently. Amy Lee added, "I think that would be awesome."
In the past, Amy actually had tried to write song for the Robert Pattinson-starring film. Recalling how she joined the Twihards, she stated, "I didn't watch the first movie - I was like, 'Yeah, whatever. I got over vampires in high school' - then they were like, 'Maybe you should write a song for the movie,' so I read the book and I wrote some songs."
"It didn't work out because they have all these cool hipster people that are doing the 'Twilight' stuff," Amy revealed how the project ended. Nonetheless, it didn't stop the frontwoman from continuing to read the Stephenie Meyer book series. "I was kind of into it," she reasoned. "So I read the next books."
Evanescence recently released a brand new song called "What You Want" to mark their comeback from hiatus. The "Going Under" hitmakers, who once landed their song "Bring Me to Life" in 2003's "Daredevil, The Movie", have filmed a music video for the single and are expected to premiere it sometime soon.
Warner Bros. Pictures are done with "Harry Potter" film franchise, but are yet to let go some masterminds behind it. According to HitFix, the studio are finalizing the deals for David Yates and Steve Kloves, who have collaborated on the last three "Harry Potter" movies, to work together again for "The Stand".
Yates, who directed the final four "Harry Potter" film installments, is reportedly projected to step behind the camera. As for Kloves who penned all "Harry Potter" movies except "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", he will likely provide the script.
"The Stand" is said to be made into multi movies. Adapted from Stephen King's novel of the same title, it is set in a time after a virus wipes out most of the American population. This story of good vs. evil will focus on a group of survivors fighting the Antichrist-like Randall Flagg while it features dozens of characters and overlapping storylines running over many years.
A brand new still from "Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol" has just arrived, giving a look at Tom Cruise who looks fierce as he throws a steely gaze at the camera. The Ethan Hunt depicter wears a black hoodie and plants his hands in the pockets of his jacket. He's surrounded by smokes and flames coming from the explosion behind him.
The fourth installment of "Mission: Impossible" franchise, the action movie will follow Ethan and his team as they go undercover to clear their name after they were blamed for a terrorist bombing. While trying to find out the true mastermind behind the crime, they have to dodge the government to avoid being captured and charged for something they didn't do.
The film is supported by Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Ving Rhames, Josh Holloway and Simon Pegg among others. Co-produced by Cruise along with J.J. Abrams and Paula Wagner, it is scheduled to make its way out in the United States on December 21.
Teen couple Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have gone naked in the name of art. Controversial sculptor Daniel Edwards has created a bronze metallic statue of the twosome almost entirely nude with only a Canadian Maple Leaf and a Texas Lone Star covering their intimate parts.
Titled "Justin and Selena as One", the life size portrait presents the "Baby" hitmaker and his songstress girlfriend as a 21st Century Adam and Eve. To be unveiled at Dallas' New Fine Arts, it features them conjoined at the torso with Selena appearing to lead Justin toward "Eden". In front of them are a Canada goose and Texas armadillo.
Of the statue, Daniel said in the press release, "The portrait represents both Canadian exceptionalism and Texas-American exceptionalism, but I believe Justin and Selena would ultimately choose Canada for their Garden of Eden, because Canada's Medicare and AAA credit rating make it easier for young couples who may find themselves in the family way."
Spokesman Cory Allen also stated, "Justin and Selena joined together, symbolizes the great harmony between neighboring countries Canada and The United States. Countries like North Korea and South Korea could learn from our example. It would be nice to exhibit this portrait in the areas of the world where tensions are high between countries that share borders."
Daniel is the sculptor known for his controversial works that include a statue of Britney Spears giving birth, Hillary Clinton topless, Suri Cruise's poop and Paris Hilton's insides. Justin and Selena aren't the first celebrity couple he has sculpted. In 2009, he made a statue of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in a lovers' embrace titled simply "Brangelina".
Nearly five years after tying the knot with Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise still can't get his hands off his actress wife. The Ethan Hunt of "Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol" has been caught on tape recently feeling the "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" star's behind during a concert.
The footage, obtained by TMZ, was taken at Katy Perry's gig at Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night, August 7, and sees Russell Brand standing next to Tom and Katie. While the video is only seconds long, the gossip site reported that the "Rock of Ages" actor kept his hand on his wife's ass for most of the performance.
For the Sunday outing, Tom and Katie showed off a casual look. The 49-year-old actor wore a black sweater on top of white T-shirt with a pair of jeans, while his 32-year-old wife donned a red sweater and a grey leopard print jeans. Tagging along with them was Tom's son with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, Connor Cruise.

"This is another incredible milestone for the last chapter of this historic film series, and for the Harry Potter franchise as a whole. "Deathly Hallows: Part II" has been opened in U.S. theaters since July 15. The film is directed by David Yates, with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson reprising their roles as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger respectively.

Looking stunning in the dress with gold accents around the bust area, Hathaway finished off her look with Tiffany & Co. jewelry and a pair of Christian Louboutin heels. On the red carpet, she shared a laugh and posed together with co-star Jim Sturgess, who looked sleek in three-piece suit.

LeAnn Rimes is etching Eddie Cibrian's wedding vows on her ribcage. While attending the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago over the weekend, the "Can't Fight the Moonlight" hitmaker got the help of a Code of Conduct tattoo artist in putting on a stencil of her husband's promise to her.
"You gave me the courage to be truthful, I promise to give you the comfort to be trustful," read the 28-year-old's new body art. She later took to Twitter to explain about the ink, "Too funny! I got a stencil not a tattoo! Its not 'news'... however, I can't get it off. In search if rubbing alcohol I think!" In another tweet, she wrote, "I was just trying something, playing."
LeAnn tied the knot with Eddie on April 22. Her spokesman Rhett Usry confirmed the happy news as sharing, "LeAnn and Eddie were happily married today surrounded by their closest family and friends. They thank everyone for their well wishes." Although the newlyweds weren't able to go on a honeymoon straight away, they were spotted on a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico a month later.
Kim Kardashian's parents have set an example for the reality star who will marry fiance Kris Humphries in the coming week. Months before Kim says her "I do", her mother Kris Jenner and step-father Bruce Jenner commemorated their 20th anniversary by renewing their wedding vows.
According to Us Magazine, the couple exchanged vows and rings while in Bora Bora for a family trip in late April and early May. The ceremony, attended by Kim, Rob Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner, was officiated by a Tahitian priest on a hilltop at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort and Spa.
Also present to witness the vow renewal, which was taped for an episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians", was Kourtney's boyfriend Scott Disick and their 20-month-old son Mason. Meanwhile, Khloe Kardashian and her NBA star husband Lamar Odom missed out on the special occasion.
Kim herself will walk down the aisle on August 20 in Montecito, California. The 30-year-old recently asked help from her Twitter followers in choosing the first song she and fiance Kris will dance to as a married couple. Last Saturday, August 6, she tweeted, "Ok guys please help! We still haven't chosen our 1st dance song! Any suggestions? So many good songs!"
It's official, "Desperate Housewives" is going to end its run next year with the eighth season. As it was expected, the cancellation was confirmed at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills on Sunday, August 7 by ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee.
"It's an iconic show and we're extremely proud of it," Lee told reporters. "I wanted to make sure that this show that put this network on the map, certainly the new brand of this network for the last six or seven years, had its victory lap and had its chance to really set out every episode and build an arc for its 22 episodes so that we could say goodbye."
Meanwhile, creator Marc Cherry said that he wants the show to end "when the network still saw us as a viable show and a force to contend with." He added when joining Lee on stage of the TCA, "I've been in this business for 23 years, and I'm very aware of people overstaying their welcome. I just didn't want that to happen to 'Desperate Housewives'. I wanted to go out in the classiest way possible."
Recalling how the stars reacted when they were told about the show's end, Cherry shared, "It was bittersweet and lovely because the women knew that it was a possibility, but they didn't know. So there was a little touch of shock but not completely." He "got really emotional with Eva (Longoria) because I love Eva more than life itself."
Spilling the beans on what is pitched for the final season, Cherry revealed that "the mystery of what's going on harkens back to the first season." He went on gushing, "Something I'm very excited about is we're going back to the roots of Mary Alice. That was one of the things that feels right."
"I have an idea for the last episode in which I want to pay homage to everyone who's been there before and been on the show," Cherry added, teasing that Nicollette Sheridan's character, Edie, may return.
"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" swings to the first spot at North American Box Office on its debut weekend. The Rupert Wyatt-directed sci-fi has earned an estimated $54 million from domestic ticket sales, which is more than the $36.4 million "Cowboys and Aliens" had reached last weekend.
The number is quite big for a summer action movie. It is placed tenth among the top 15 weekend openers since last April, above "Green Lantern" ($53.2 million) and below "X-Men: First Class" ($55.1 million).
According to exit polling, the James Franco-starring movie has attracted mainly male moviegoers (56%) while 59% were over the age of 25 and around 20% were above 50 years old. Most viewers gave this film "A-" CinemaScore grade.
Trailing behind "Apes" at number two is "The Smurfs" with estimated $21 million, or dropping about 41% from last week's cume. So far, the animated movie has raked in $76.2 million and it seems to be on its track to gain around $135 million overall.
Last week's chart topper, "Cowboys and Aliens" is falling down to number three with estimated $15.8 million. Meanwhile, another new debut "The Change-Up" doesn't perform as well as expected. The movie only earns approximately $13.5 million, while analysts predicted it would open at about $20 million. "Captain America: The First Avenger" rounds out the top five with approximately $13 million.
Top Ten Movies at Box Office for August 5-7:
"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" - $54 million
"The Smurfs" - $21 million
"Cowboys and Aliens" - $15.8 million
"The Change-Up" - $13.5 million

As soon as "Desperate Housewives" cancellation was made official, the first promo for the eighth and last season of the show comes out on the web. It compiles footage from the past years of the four original characters - Susan, Lynette, Bree, Gabrielle - and newcomer Renee. Among the highlights are Lynette's struggles to deal with her little children, Bree's rebellious daughter and Gabrielle's affair with her gardener.
When confirming that ABC will end the show's run next year, creator Marc Cherry shared that in the upcoming season "the mystery of what's going on harkens back to the first season." He also revealed his idea to "pay homage to everyone who's been there before and been on the show" for the last episode.
The final season of "Desperate Housewives" will start airing Sunday, September 25 at 9/8c. ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee said that he wanted to make sure the drama comedy series "had its victory lap and had its chance to really set out every episode and build an arc for its 22 episodes so that we could say goodbye."
Warner Bros. Pictures has unleashed a new clip from forthcoming thriller "Final Destination 5" just a few days before it arrives in U.S. theaters. Instead of unveiling new unexpected death scenarios, the fresh video contains warning of sudden death that can happen to anyone at anytime.
Titled "They're Closing Us Down", the clip presents a scene where Miles Fisher's Peter Friedkin meets David Koechner's Dennis Lapman. He tries to warn Dennis that nobody is safe from the curse of the death. However, the boss seems to underestimate his warning. Feeling ignored, Miles only tells Dennis, "Whatever, I warned you. Do whatever you want to do."
There are also three other videos which have similar theme. Two of them are titled "Why Are You Following Us?" and "Death Doesn't Like to Be Cheated", and give a look at Tony Todd's William Bludworth who mysteriously warns Peter and his friends of the unexpected death. However, when he is further asked if he knows something about a series of death that happened before, William does not give any clear answer.
The last one, "What Do You Want From Us?", sees Nicholas D'Agosto's Sam Lawton and Emma Bell's Molly Harper in what looks like a hospital. They talk to a man who believes that both of them know something related to a bridge collapse accident that happened before. Claiming he has no idea about the accident, Sam insists, "I don't know anything."
The fifth installment of the thriller film franchise offers a classic storyline that revolves around the themes of determinism, predestination and precognition of death. Recent rumor that Justin Bieber has broken up with Selena Gomez has been proven to be a false one. On Sunday, August 7, the "Baby" hitmaker and his songstress girlfriend attended the 2011 Teen Choice Awards, and were caught on camera getting extra cozy as he stole kisses from her.
Though arriving separately at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, the teen couple sat side-by-side once they got inside and held hands throughout the show. Justin even clapped and sang along when Selena performed "Love You Like a Love Song" with her band The Scene.
The Sun earlier reported that Justin's relationship with Selena is on the rocks. The British tabloid claimed that Selena doesn't particularly fond of his friends in the music industry, such as Sean Kingston, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown, and has ordered him not to hang out with them.
"Selena told him to stop hanging with these bad people. She didn't want him to crash her gig. They had a huge row and said it was good they were having time apart while she was on tour," a friend of the "Monte Carlo" beauty said. "It's hard seeing a little 17-year-old crying and saying he loves her."
Both Justin and Selena grabbed multiple wins at this year's Teen Choice Awards. Justin picked up four awards, nailing Choice Music: Male Artist, Choice Male Hottie, Choice Twit and Choice TV Villain for his guest role on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation". His girlfriend, in the meantime, took home five surfboards, including Choice Female Hottie and Choice Music: Group.
