Daniel Craig Promises James Bond Will Be 'Much Softer and Nicer' in 'Skyfall'

Daniel Craig has opened up about what kind of James Bond he will tackle this time in "Skyfall". The 44-year-old British actor shared that in the 23rd movie, agent 007 will be much "softer" than the one he portrayed in both 2006's "Casino Royale" and 2008's "Quantum of Solace".

Speaking to MTV News in a recent on-set interview, Craig said of his character, "He's much softer and nicer now. It's just different... hopefully, it's different again from that ['Casino Royale']." The blue-eyed thesp went on explaining, "He was a story to telling 'Quantum' that we had to finish off and round off. He was hurt and broken-hearted; he's not so broken-hearted. He's on the mend; he's feeling much better."

Instead of seeing Bond as a heroic man, Craig branded the flamboyant spy a "flawed character." He said, "His attitude towards women and his attitude towards the world is very dubious, but I think that's interesting, and I think if you throw him into a situation with really strong characters and you watch them battle it out, then I think it just makes for interesting watching."

The husband of Oscar winner Rachel Weisz also explained that Bond's relationship with Judi Dench's M is "a very important part of the film." He added, "They're very close, and they kind of basically go on an adventure together. She gets out in the field. Judi, she'll tell you, she usually films most of her stuff in the studio like this while we're all off in sort of some wonderful location, and she gets to go with us this time."

During the chat, Craig additionally noted that "Skyfall" will also highlight Bond's intriguing relationship with Javier Bardem's villainous character Raoul Silva. "There's also the very important relationship he has with the bad guy in the movie. We kind of got Javier to come in and do that which, again, which just gives the whole film a sort of richer content," said Craig.

Due to arrive in the U.S. on November 9, "Skyfall" follows Bond as his loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. When MI6 comes under attack, the British spy must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. The much awaited film is directed by Sam Mendes.
