Anne Hathaway has undergone a drastic makeover to support her prestigious role as Fantine in "Les Miserables". The Oscar nominee, who is known for her famous long brown locks, has recently been photographed sporting a super short pixie cut in preparation to portray the iconic character.
The "Rachel Getting Married" actress was spotted stepping out of London's The Box nightclub with fiance Adam Shulman during the wee hours of Sunday morning, April 8. Donning a black long coat and denims, she was seen trying to conceal her new look from the swarming cameramen as she hopped a taxi.
Hathaway arrived in the capital of England to shoot the much awaited musical film. It has recently been rumored that the Emmy-winning actress was putting herself on an extreme crash-diet to portray the starving prostitute Fantine. She was said to be struggling to rapidly lose 16 pounds for the role.
Quickly slamming the report was Hathaway's representative who told E! News that although it is true the actress was undergoing a diet program for the coveted role, she didn't engage in a hardcore diet. "She is losing weight for the part, but not that much," insisted the rep. "Just enough for her to look more frail, as she is playing a dying prostitute."
In "Les Miserables", Hathaway is joined by the likes of Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter. The Tom Hooper-directed movie itself, which is due to hit the U.S. theaters on Decemer 14, centers on the struggle by ex-con Valjean to outrun his past and his relentless pursuer Javert.
