Emma Watson could secure a biblical role for her next movie. The Hermione Granger of the "Harry Potter" film series is currently in talks to join Darren Aronofsky's "Noah", Deadline has reported.
The English actress is eyed to tackle the part of Ila, a young lady who is also the love interest of prophet Noah's son, Shem. Being tapped to play Shem is Douglas Booth, while Russell Crowe is cast as the titular character.
Should Watson join the biblical movie, she will reunite with her co-star in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower", Logan Lerman. The young thesp has already been sealed to play Noah's other son, Ham.
"Noah" will be based on the Old Testament story about the devoted ark builder. The movie project is currently looking for an actress to star as the prophet's wife. It has been rumored that Jennifer Connelly has been eyed to take the part.
Back in 2011, Arnofsky confessed that he's been fantasizing about developing a movie about Noah. "Since I was a kid, I have been moved and inspired by the story of Noah and his family's journey," he said.
"The imaginations of countless generations have sparked to this epic story of faith," the filmmaker added. "It's my hope that I can present a window into Noah's passion and perseverance for the silver screen."
As for Watson, the 22-year-old actress will next be seen in coming-of-age drama "Perks of Being a Wallflower", heist movie "The Bling Ring", and comedy pic "The End of the World".
