Johnny Depp said previously that he would reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the fifth film depending on the story, script and filmmaker. "It's not something where I would say, 'Let's shoot it next month to get it out by Christmas 2012.' We should hold off for a bit. They should be special, just like they are special to me," the actor told THR.
Depp, who admitted that he has not read Rossio's script, would like to take a break after promoting "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" later this month. He no longer wants to keep up with a back-to-back shooting like Disney scheduled for "Pirates 2" and "Pirates 3".
Meanwhile, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has said he's on board for the new installment and rumor has it, so is director Rob Marshall who replaces Gore Verbinski in the fourth film.
