Following the success of "Inception", Warner Bros . Pictures reportedly has a dream of making more money from the sci-fi flick. What's Playing (via Collider) says a source tells them that the studio is keen on making "Inception" sequel though at this time the interest is solely on WB's side.
"Warner Bros want another Inception - as in sequel. Doesn't make a lick of sense creatively, but financially? Well... it made 'a lot' of money for them," the source writes in an email to What's Playing. "Can't imagine [Christopher] Nolan wanting to do a sequel, let alone direct one. Also don't imagine Jeff would want to piss off Nolan by doing one around him. All interest is on the studio side at this stage. We shall see comrade... ."
Considering Nolan's preference of coming up with or finding original stories than making a sequel (except for "Batman" movies), "Inception" sequel will likely not happen. However, it is possible that Warner Bros wants another movie of this dream-extraction story which has grossed as much as $811 million worldwide.
"Inception" follows Leonardo DiCaprio's Dom Cobb, a man with rare ability to steal people's secrets through their dream. He is now offered one last job that could give him his life back. However, instead of stealing an idea, he has to do the reverse which is to plant one.
