Shah Rukh Khan is back on TV with "Sasural Simar Ka"

Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan is back to his roots - the small screen. Nearly two decades after featuring in fiction shows like "Circus" and "Fauji", the superstar recently shot a cameo for Colors' new show "Sasural Simar Ka".
The 45-year-old was quite excited about the shoot, and squeezed in time out of his choc-a-bloc schedule for it, said a source from the channel. The channel arranged to shoot the sequence at Mannat, his residence in Bandra, Mumbai.
"The story appealed to him as 'Sasural Simar Ka' deals with a girl Simar, who can go to any length to make her dreams of a being an expert dancer come true," said the source.
Though the actor kept his strings attached to TV through reality shows like "Kaun Banega Crorepati", "Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain" and "Zor Ka Jhatka", this is Shah Rukh's first appearance in a TV serial ever since he achieved star status.
In his cameo in "Sasural Simar Ka", Shah Rukh plays judge of a dance reality show "Chak Dhoom Dhoom", in which Simar, the protagonist wants to participate without the knowledge of her father.
Actress Deepika Samson, who plays Simar, was on cloud nine after shooting with King Khan.
"It was a lifetime experience to shoot or be around SRK. I froze when I saw Shah Rukh. He made me feel so comfortable. I keep pinching myself to believe that I shot with him," said Samson.

Meanwhile, Kourtney's son Mason Dash Disick is likely to get less spotlight in the upcoming season. "I'm trying to keep him off camera for the new season of 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians'. He might be playing on the floor in some footage or running around, but everyone knows not to shoot him," the 32-year-old socialite recently stated.

He made headlines around the world, and Justin Bieber invited the schoolboy to join him at his show in Melbourne on Monday, and invited Hynes onstage to introduce his aspirational song Never Say Never.

Bieber told the audience, "Everybody give it up for this kid. I just wanted to say that he's very inspirational. He shows other people to stand up for what they believe in."

Taking to his Twitter page after the gig, the Baby hitmaker told his followers, "A kid who stood up for himself against bullying. A real life hero. We tracked down Casey and his family and flew him to the show. Thank you Casey."

Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger Auditioned for Moulin Rouge!

The part of penniless poet Christian in the 2001 movie musical eventually went to Scottish actor Ewan McGregor but Baz Luhrmann admits it took months of auditions to find the right man for the job.

He tells MTV.com, "I saw everyone. I have audition material of people you wouldn't believe. I know who can really sing, people who've got amazing voices, from that process.

"Dear Heath Ledger, (he had) incredible scenes with Nicole. Because at one stage, Christian was very young, he was a younger guy, and then I was aware of Ewan but I didn't know if he could sing.

"Jake should do a musical. He's a wonderful actor, but (he has a) great voice, tremendous voice. He sang some (Stephen) Sondheim for me, complicated singing, great voice. When is he going to guest on Glee?"

The filmmaker has also heaped praise on Courtney Love for granting him permission to feature her late husband Kurt Cobain's iconic anthem Smells Like Teen Spirit in the film.

He adds, "I worked with Courtney. She was fascinating, she was beguiling. Also, without Courtney's approval, we would never have Smells Like Teen Spirit in Moulin Rouge! and I had to go and show her the whole piece. She's absolutely fantastic. I adore her spirit. She's wild and unpredictable and a great performer."
