Shahrukh Khan Turns Action Hero In 2011!

Shahrukh Khan, the star who has portrayed almost every kind of role on screen had been mostly labeled as a romantic star due to his films revolving around such themes which are typical of Bollywood style.
However, the next year will see the star in a completely new niche as an actor since he will be playing the lead in mostly action based thrillers.
Shahrukh has always been considered a very good actor for depicting soft romantic flings on the silver screen, but with movies like Don 2 and RA.ONE releasing in 2011 he will have the typical action hero tag on him. Even though his role in Don2 is touted to be on a more positive line and in RA.ONE as being a scientist who falls into a deep problem due to his own invention, the characters will give him a huge jump in his versatility as far as his acting skills go.
Besides these two flicks which will see him in two different roles, there are reports that SRK will also be seen in a negative role in Dhoom 3, which will widen his scope in the performance area. Thus, SRK will be seen jumping from action to double action in his role as the negative character in Dhoom 3.
Of course to see the great romantic in a negative character will be hard for the audiences to digest, but as an actor Shahrukh really has taken a huge leap forward. All his films are being looked forward to by his most dedicated fans!

Guzaarish, Harry Potter starts well at box office

It was a battle between a magician from the East and a wizard from the West and their spell proved unbreakable as both Hrithik Roshan starrer “Guzaarish” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1″ wowed audiences, with the two running neck and neck in the first weekend.
While “Guzaarish” lost its initial pick to the boy wizard on Friday, Hrithik’s magic tricks and intense acting picked up Saturday onwards.
“The weekend was superb. While ‘Guzaarish’ was good with 85 percent occupancy, ‘Harry Potter…’ did around 70 percent both in Hindi and English. Collections wise both movies have done neck to neck business, however, ‘Guzaarish’ is a class movie and not meant for everyone,” Amit Awasthi, senior manager (Programming and Operations) of Spice Cinemas, told IANS.
Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (Cinemas) of Wave Cinemas, said: “‘Harry Potter…’ was good with 60-70 percent occupancy as per its fan following while ‘Guzaarish’ is a class movie and not for masses but it garnered 70 percent occupancy. The content for both is being appreciated and both are worth watching.”
While “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1″ is the seventh installment in the epic franchise, it has been directed by David Yates. The wizard trio – Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint reprise their roles in the movie.
Distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, the movie earned a gross of Rs.11.3 crore in its first weekend, according to the distributors. It released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu in India.
“Guzaarish”, on the other hand, is the story of a magician (Hrithik) who becomes paraplegic after a trick goes haywire. The movie highlights the issue of euthanasia (mercy killing). Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it also stars Aishwarya Rai.
“‘Harry Potter’ was good on Friday while ‘Guzaarish’ picked up Saturday onwards. Both the movies did a neck to neck business with on an average 70-75 percent occupancy,” said Amit Shah, chief manager (programming) of DLF DT cinemas.
Added Jayendra Banerji, vice president (Operations) of Satyam Cineplexes: “The weekend was very good with both ‘Guzaarish’ and ‘Harry Potter…’ doing very well. While the former got 65 percent occupancy, the latter was anywhere between 60-70 percent. Both the movies have been appreciated a lot, however, ‘Guzaarish’ has won kudos for its technical brilliance and emotional content despite not being a movie for the masses and only multiplexes.”
A source from PVR Cinemas, however, had a different story.
“Both the movies got only 50 percent occupancy on an average because of more shows and because people didn’t like both the outings that much…. The movies didn’t go down well with audiences as per their expectations. However, ‘Guzaarish’ did better than ‘Harry Potter…’,” said the source.

'Deathly Hallows: Part I' Tops Box Office, Marks the Franchise Best Bow

Warner Bros. Pictures once again has had their glorious moment at North American Box Office with beloved franchise "Harry Potter". The latest film of the series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I", debuts atop the chart with an estimated $125.1 million.

"We have been able to keep our fan base as the characters have aged and the movies have become darker. And the three main actors have become really terrific, adult actors."

"Megamind", which ruled the chart for two straight weeks, is now pushed aside to the second place with an estimated $16.2 million revenue. "Unstoppable" still follows the animation on the the third place, adding an approximately $13.1 million cume.

Confirmed, Lindsay Lohan Replaced by Malin Akerman in Porn Star Biopic

Even a big name could not help Lindsay Lohan to secure her movie role. After the star is ordered to stay in a rehab facility until at least early 2011, filmmakers of "Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story" have decided to let her go and hire another actress.

Lohan was supposed to portray porn star Linda Lovelace in the biopic. But since the start date is getting closer and she is still struggling with her legal problem, the filmmakers have cast Malin Akerman to replace Lohan.

"Lindsay had scheduling issues due to legal obligations and is continuing to focus on getting better in rehabilitation in Palm Springs, and she really had to focus on that in our opinion - and hers," producer Chris Hanley says as quoted by People. "For herself and her career in general it was really her decision to just focus on getting better psychologically."

On the "Watchmen" beauty who is now booked to portray the late "Deep Throat" star, Hanley gushes, "Malin was passionate to take this challenge of the role to task and we feel she has the talent to meet that challenge."

When Lohan was ordered to attend alcohol education program earlier this year, the filmmakers insisted on waiting for her and planned to resume production of the movie in mid November after she completed her court mandated stint. However, the 24-year-old beauty is now undergoing another court-ordered treatment for substance abuse problems and is expected to remain in the facility until January 3.

Additionally, a source tells Deadline Hollywood that Lohan is dropped because she is "impossible to insure and the producers loved Malin."

The making of Olivia Wilde's Quorra fighting scene is also included in it.

A follow up to 1982 "Tron", "Tron Legacy" follows Sam Flynn as he investigates the disappearance of his father and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Garrett Hedlund is cast as Sam while Jeff Bridges reprises his role as Kevin.

'Twilight' Star Bronson Pelletier Recovering After Attacked at Fans Convention

"Twilight" star Bronson Pelletier is recovering after he was attacked by a group of drunken men at a fan convention in Birmingham, England. The actor, who plays werewolf Jared in the franchise, was left with a broken nose after he was confronted in the restroom of the Hilton Metropole Hotel while attending the Eternal Twilight 4 event.

Chaos broke out as the 24 year old was hit over the skull, headbutted and held in a headlock before he managed to free himself. Four alleged attackers, who were guests at a wedding reception in the hotel, were then chased by police officers and one was restrained after cops used a Taser gun.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police confirms four men were arrested on suspicion of assault. Two were released and two were granted bail pending further questioning, according to Britain's Daily Telegraph.

A source tells the publication, "Bronson was really angry and upset... These guys were very nasty. They were so drunk they probably didn't even realise they were picking on a Hollywood actor. The convention was full of teenage girls and geeks desperate to see their Twilight heroes so no one expected this sort of trouble."

Sean Connery Ordered to Pay $76.5 Million Bond to Spanish Court

Sir Sean Connery has been ordered by a Spanish judge to contribute to a $76.5 million bond as part of an ongoing money-laundering and property fraud investigation. Judge Ricardo Puyol named the James Bond star as one of the individuals who must deposit the combined sum as surety in the probe into a number of property deals, including the 1998 sale of the actor's beachfront mansion near Marbella, Spain.

Connery and his wife Micheline made $8.4 million in the sale but allegedly failed to pay $2 million to the local authority. The property was knocked down to allow for 72 luxury apartments to be built, despite planning permission for just five family houses. The condominiums were said to have yielded a $75 million profit.

Connery was given ten days to pay his undisclosed contribution or risk the impounding of personal assets, according to Britain's Daily Telegraph. The 80-year-old star failed to appear at a Spanish court to testify in October, citing age and unspecified health problems.
