Dhobi Ghat Trapped In A Title Row!
Aamir Khan and his wife, Kiran Rao, were in a very joyous mood when they went to participate in the Toronto International Film Festival a few days back, and they returned with much applause too for Rao’s directorial debut Dhobi Ghat. The film had its international premiere at this festival.
However, Rao needs to fight a legal case now for the title of her movie Dhobi Ghat. Vinod Kumar Kanojia, the chairman of Hindustan Kanojia Organisation of Dhobis, has claimed that the title of the movie was a sign for making caste division in the dhobi community. He has appealed to the Delhi High Court asking for a change of the title before film releases in theaters.
Kanojia also requested the censor board to assess the film’s title in order to avoid caste division in society. In his petition, Kanojia stated that the movie could have opted for some other title but they have chosen the title to hurt the feelings of the dhobi community. He added that the community was notified as the scheduled caste in the Indian Constitution and it is a punishable offence to call any person by its community name. He further mentioned that the fundamental right of the community is violated by the film’s title and the court must restrain it.
Dhobi Ghat has received high accolades in the recently held Toronto International Film festival and all parties involved would like a resolution to this matter at the earliest. The case is likely to be heard in court on Wednesday. Kanojia alleged that the director and producer of the movie have used the name of the caste just to earn money and it is a very minor and dirty thinking. He said that no one has the right to sell the name of any caste.
No stress between Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar
The team of Tees Maar Khan is laughing at recent reports of a fabricated spat that apparently took place between the lead pair –Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar.
The team confirms that there is no truth to the apparent tiff that took place over Katrina Kaif being unable to provide dates for a music video for the film as recently reported by a leading tabloid.
Reveals a source, “Katrina’s schedule is as hectic as ever –she is currently shooting for a Yash Raj film,Zoya’s film and Dostana 2 also managing to make time for her brand commitments.However being the professional that she is -she made sure she devoted dates for the music video and flew down to shoot it. She shares a great rapport with Akshay Kumar and Farah Khan.”
Brushing off any rumors of a spat that took place over the Qawalli song that is currently being filmed in Mumbai says director/choreographer Farah Khan, “There is absolutely no problem between any of us. Katrina is a wonderful girl and very professional. She has done a great job in Tees Maar Khan.”
Backing that says Akshay Kumar, “Katrina and I go back a long way and she is a dear friend of mine and has always been there.I would like to clarify that she is one of the most professional stars we have and she and I are amused with these reports since there is absolutely no truth to them.”
Lady Gaga, Katy Perry Lead MTV EMAs 2010 Nominations
Lady Gaga and Katy Perry lead the nominations for this year's MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs), with four each.
Both singers will go head-to-head with Rihanna in the categories for Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song.
Lady Gaga is also nominated for Best Live Act, while Perry is up for Best World Stage Performance.
The 17th annual EMAs will take place at Caja Magica in Madrid on November 7.
Elsewhere, Eminem has been shortlisted for four awards, including Best Song, Best Male and Best Video for his Rihanna-featuring track, 'Love The Way You Lie'.

Lindsay Lohan Fails Drug Tests, May Return to Jail
Lindsay Lohan has failed her most recent mandatory drug test, a condition of her probation. This is not just a rumor. She confirmed it herself on Twitter.
It may mean the 24-year-old is headed back to the slammer. L.A. Superior Court Judge Elden Fox had threatened to hand her 30 days for each violation.
Lohan, who served just a fraction of her previous jail and rehab sentences, confesed on Twitter: "Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test."
Russell Brand Arrested For Attacking Photographer
Russell Brand was placed under citizen’s arrest Friday afternoon when put the beat down on a photographer for trying to get an upskirt picture of his fiance, Katy Perry. Russell and Katy were going through security when the paparazzi got froggy and stuck a camera up Katy’s dress.
Brand was then interviewed by airport police and taken into custody. He and Perry, 24, did not board their schedule Delta flight to Las Vegas. Russell has since been released from police custody for a misdemeanor charge of simple battery. His bail was set at $20,000. He is due to appear at an LA court on October 15th.
About the incident, Katy tweeted: “If you cross the line & try an put a lens up my dress, my fiancé will do his job & protect me.”
Jolie defends her tattoos
London, Sep 18 – Her tattoos have caused endless nightmares for film directors and now Angelina Jolie has finally revealed why she has so many.
The 35-year-old, who has six children with fellow actor partner Brad Pitt, has around 13 tattoos that often lead to problems while filming, with producers having to use make-up and creative camera angles to hide them, reports express.co.uk.
‘I don’t think it’s abnormal that someone who spends their life in other skins wants to claim their own, by marking things on it that matter to them,’ said Jolie.
‘My most recent is five vertical rows of ancient Cambodian script. It’s on my back,’ she added.
Kareena Will Bring In Her 30th Birthday In Latvia
It isn’t going to be a very happy birthday for Kareena Kapoor on September 21st. She will be far away from home shooting for Sriram Raghavan’s Agent Vinod in Latvia. Earlier, in July, she missed her sister Karisma’s birthday since she was shooting in London with Shah Rukh Khan for Ra.1.The only bright spot in this birthday away from home is that Saif will be with her. And since Agent Vinod is a home production, Saif and Kareena are planning to fly down Kareena’s mother to Latvia for the birthday. Karisma cannot join them because of her baby.
Kareena expresses helplessness about her impossible schedules. “What can I do? I barely have time to breathe. I’ve just come to Mumbai for two days. I’ve been away for 25 days. Now I fly off to Latvia for over a month’s shooting,” said Kareena on Monday as she geared up to give all the time she could to promoting her new film We Are Family before flying out again.
Confirming that the shooting of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine has indeed been postponed, Kareena says, “Madhur is still working on the script. We start shooting the film when the script is ready in the next three months. Right now Madhur is busy with Dil To Bachcha Hai Jee.”
Says the actress, “I’m now entering a new phase in my life and career. This year I hope to conquer many new peaks. By God’s grace Agent Vinod and Ra.1 are shaping up very well.”
